Residents reminded to renew dog licenses

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The City of Lethbridge is reminding dog owners to renew their licenses.

Annual dog licensing expires on December 31, 2022. Renewal invoices have been issued for 2023 and officials say residents should expect their invoices in the mail within the next two weeks.

A dog license provides proof of ownership and contact information, which allows pets to be returned to their appropriate owner if they ever come into the care of the Lethbridge Animal Shelter.

Dogs over six months old are required to have a City of Lethbridge registered license. Officials say that in the event of an incident involving a dog who is not registered, its owner could face a fine.

The City of Lethbridge added that fees accumulated from registrations go toward local programs like spaying/neutering, veterinarian care for shelter animals, and community educational programs.

Licensing payments can be made online, at City Hall or at the Lethbridge Animal Shelter.
