LETHBRIDGE, AB – One person was sent to hospital following a fire in north Lethbridge.

In the evening of Wednesday, December 28, 2022, crews from three stations responded to the residential fire on Eagle Road North. Officials say the blaze was located in the basement of the home.

All occupants had safely exited the residence before crews arrived on scene. However, one adult was taken to hospital with undetermined injuries.

Damage from the fire is estimated at $150,000.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.

Additionally, as first responders were arriving at the scene, slippery road conditions caused one Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services truck to slide onto the lawn of a nearby home while turning the corner from Oriole Road North onto Eagle Road North.

The truck struck a rock on the front lawn of the home, causing minimal damage to a tree. The City of Lethbridge told LNN that there were no injuries stemming from this incident.

A tow truck was called to pull the fire truck off of the property. An hour later, sanding trucks were sent to the area to mitigate the icy roads.
