Canada-wide warrant issued for Alberta man accused of Christmas shooting

CALGARY, AB – The Calgary Police Service is looking to locate a local man who is accused of a fatal shooting that happened on Sunday, December 25, 2022.

Around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, police responded to several reports of shots being fired in Calgary’s Forest Lawn neighbourhood.

One man was transported to hospital and later succumbed to his injuries.

An autopsy was conducted on December 27, 2022, and the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed it to be a homicide.

Police have since identified the 24-year-old victim as Samuel Welday Haile from Calgary.

Investigators are now searching for the suspect who is wanted in relation to the shooting.

Hagos is described as approximately 140 pounds, with a slim build, standing at 5’11’’.

The Calgary Police Service said in a release, “We ask members of the public to exercise caution if you believe you see or know the suspect, as he is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. All sightings should be reported by calling 9-1-1.”
