Nominations open for Lethbridge Sport Council Achievement Awards

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Nominations are now being accepted for the 13th annual Lethbridge Sport Council Achievement Awards.

The honours recognize individuals, teams and businesses that have contributed to sport in Lethbridge and the surrounding region.

More than 130 individuals, 11 teams, and 16 organizations have received awards over the last 12 years.

Susan Eymann, executive director of the Lethbridge Sport Council said, “We encourage individuals and clubs to submit nominations for achievements at every level of competition, from grassroots to high performance.”

She added, “These awards honour those who had outstanding achievements in 2022 and those who have contributed significantly to sport over time.”

There are four award categories. They include:

  • Athlete Performance (Junior Male and Female, Senior Male and Female, Master, Athlete with a Disability, Special Olympics Athlete, Amateur Team)
  • Sport Excellence (Community Coach, High Performance Coach, Officiating, Volunteer in Sport, Dr. Gary Bowie Sport Event, Business & Sport Excellence)
  • Leadership (Shaun Ward Sport Champion, Sport Administrator, Sport Organization)
  • Spirit in Sport Awards (Outstanding Sport Citizen, Knud Petersen Spirit in Sport Award)

Nomination forms are available online.

Any person that is a member of a Lethbridge sport organization, trains at a Lethbridge sport facility, or is a resident of Lethbridge can be nominated. The deadline for nominations is January 31, 2023.

An awards ceremony will be held at the ENMAX Centre in April.
