LETHBRIDGE, AB – It’s the first week of the new year, Lethbridge!

While some might be enjoying their extended holidays or heading back to work, there are still lots of events going on around town.

Magnets and Memories of Sound at the Galt Museum and Archives – January 4

On Wednesday, the Galt Museum and Archives hosts a morning where visitors can make magnets. Using magazines, archival images, and other supplies from the Creative Community, guests can create their very own piece of art. From 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., adults and seniors can visit the museum to take part in this activity. Registration is not required and admission is only the cost of entering the museum.

Lethbridge Hurricanes vs. Moose Jaw Warriors – January 4

On Wednesday, the Lethbridge Hurricanes are on home ice to play the Moose Jaw Warriors at the ENMAX Centre. Starting at 7:00 p.m., cheer on the local team as they face off in their first home game of 2023. Tickets are available on the ENMAX Centre website.

Alex Carr Live in the Canadian Western Bank Lounge – January 5

In partnership with Good Times Lethbridge Comedy Club, Canadian comedian Alex Carr bring the laughs to the ENMAX Centre. On Thursday, head on up to the Canadian Western Bank Lounge at 6:00 p.m. for some pre-show food and drinks. Prior to Carr taking the stage, Henry Sir will be warming up the room with his opening lines. Advanced tickets are $18 and tickets at the door are $25. Festival Square Ice Rink – Open every day from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Looking to hit the ice this January? Festival Square’s free outdoor ice rink is still open every day in the new year. Community members are encouraged to come out, strap on their skates and follow the rules of the rink. Helmets and protective gear are strongly recommended.

Winter Light Festival at Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden – Multiple dates in January

From now until February 26, 2023, guests can see light and ice sculpture displays while learning about Japanese culture and traditions at the Winter Light Festival at Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden in Lethbridge. Tickets are available Thursday through Sunday, with additional passes available for the Kamakura [Igloo] Dome Experience or the Basha Nori [Horse and Wagon Rides].
