MILK RIVER, AB – Alberta Health Services (AHS) has confirmed a temporary closure of the Emergency Department (ED) at the Milk River Health Centre.

The ED will be temporarily closed at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2023. It will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, January 30 to provide 24-hour service, seven days a week.

AHS noted that during the temporary closure, nursing staff will remain on-site to provide care for long-term care residents. Patients are asked to call 911 if they have a medical emergency.

EMS calls will be re-routed to Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge or the Raymond Health Centre. Patients seeking care can access emergency services at the Raymond Health Centre and Chinook Regional Hospital.

AHS is also reminding residents to call Health Link at 811, which is available for non-emergency health-related questions 24 hours a day, seven days a week. People requiring non-emergency medical care are encouraged to call their family physician.
