LETHBRIDGE, AB – It was a packed house at the ENMAX Centre as the Lethbridge Hurricanes hosted the Regina Pats.

The game on Friday, February 3, 2023, was the latest example of the so-called “Bedard Bump,” in which fans have been buying tickets in droves to see Pats star Connor Bedard.

Bedard had a record-breaking performance at the 2023 World Junior Hockey Championship, and he is projected to be the first overall pick in this year’s NHL draft.

Officials with the ENMAX Centre say the game was completely sold out, including around 300 overflow tickets.

Regina was the first to score in Friday’s game, as Sam Oremba got a point for the Pats at the 7:32 mark in the first period.

Tyson Laventure got Lethbridge on the scoreboard 38 seconds into the second period thanks to an assist from Blake Swetlikoff.

Logan Wormald hit the net for the Hurricanes about one minute later as Brayden Edwards and Tristen Doyle assisted.

The Pats pounced back in the final period with goals from Alexander Suzdalev and Zack Stringer.

In the end, the Canes fell 3-2 to the Pats. Despite the loss, Lethbridge out-shot Regina 35-25.

Wormald was named the second star of the game, while Edwards was named the Hardest Working Hurricane.

Next up for the Hurricanes, they travel to Medicine Hat to face the Tigers on Saturday, February 4, 2023.
