Raymond coach receives Football Alberta award

RAYMOND, AB – A football coach from southern Alberta has been rewarded for his efforts on the sidelines. The winners of the annual Football Alberta Awards have been announced.

Connor Ralph received the Norm Kimball Coach of the Year award for his hard work during the 2022 season of play. Ralph is the coach of the Raymond High School Comets. The Comets captured their ninth Tier 1 title since 1996 and their first Brian Fryer division championship during the 2022 season. The team finished with an overall season record of 10-1-1.

The other award winners include:

  • Rob and Grace Zittlau Media Award: Global TV Edmonton Sports Department
  • Official of the Year: Brendan Dolan (Calgary Football Officials Association)
  • Novice Coach of the Year: Kailum El-Kadri (Ernest Manning JV Griffins, Calgary)
  • Atom/Pee-Wee Coach of the Year: Nathan Geib (Sylvan Lake Atom Tigers) & Lance Kelly (Okotoks Atom Eagles)
  • Bantam Coach of the Year: Scott Howes (Medicine Hat Bantam Hawks)
  • Tier IV High School Coach of the Year: Mark Tichkowski (St. Paul Lions)
  • Tier III High School Coach of the Year: Dustin Fallscheer/Craig Paylor (Holy Rosary Raiders, Lloydminster)
  • Tier II High School Coach of the Year: Matt Hassett (Holy Trinity Academy Knights, Okotoks)
  • Tier I High School Coach of the Year: Jovan Vujinovic (Ernest Manning Griffins, Calgary)
  • Gary Hobson Volunteer of the Year Award: Corey Colwell (Breton High School)
  • Life Membership/Hall of Fame winners and inductees: Jim Corchesne (Calgary Bantam Football Association), Rob Keith (Metro Edmonton High School Football, CDMFA & Football Alberta), Brian McCorquodale (Bishop Carroll High School, Calgary), Cam McKeage (J.C. Charyk High School, Hanna), Jay Meraw (St. Joseph’s High School, Edmonton & Sherwood Park Bantam Rams), Bruce Schwieder (former Football Alberta VP of Officials)

Football Alberta noted that Connor Ralph’s Norm Kimball Coach of the Year award means Ralph is recognized as the coach of the year for all disciplines.

Brendan Dolan has already received his Official of the Year award, but the other award winners will be honoured at halftime during the annual Senior Bowl High School All-Star Game in Lacombe on Monday, May 22, 2023. More information is available at the Football Alberta website.
