Charges laid after child in Coalhurst allegedly robbed

COALHURST, AB – The RCMP said it has apprehended a suspect in connection to a robbery in Coalhurst.

The Coaldale RCMP said in a news release that at around 4:35 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2023, it responded to a report of a man with an axe. Police allege that the suspect “displayed the weapon while taking food from a [nine]-year-old child.”

Police said they were on the scene within minutes and arrested the suspect at a nearby home.

There are no reports of anyone being injured during the alleged offence.

The RCMP said it “would like to thank the witnesses who called police immediately and stayed on scene to provide crucial information, which led to the quick arrest of the male. There are no on-going public safety concerns as a result of this occurrence.”

Tazzmaine Good Dagger, 22, of Standoff, is charged with one count of robbery with an offensive weapon and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

The suspect was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Lethbridge Provincial Court on March 15, 2023.
