College and university sports recap: March 14, 2023
LETHBRIDGE, AB – It was a big weekend for the Lethbridge College Kodiaks futsal teams, as well as student-athletes with the University of Lethbridge (U of L) track and field team.
LETHBRIDGE COLLEGE KODIAKS
Both the Kodiaks men’s and women’s futsal teams competed at the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Championships in Fort McMurray from Friday, March 10, 2023 to Sunday, March 12.
The women’s futsal team did not earn a win in pool play, losing 6-4 to the host Keyano College Huskies and 4-3 to the SAIT Trojans. Lethbridge College was able to rebound in the quarterfinal and defeated The King’s University Eagles 7-4. The Kodiaks then lost 5-2 in the semifinals against the Huskies. This placed Lethbridge College in the bronze medal game against the NAIT Ooks. NAIT earned the 4-3 win, which resulted in the Kodiaks placing fourth in the tournament. Olivia DePasquale was named a tournament all-star for Lethbridge, along with teammate Nikki Stahl.
