SEVEN PERSONS, AB — Two people lost their lives in a collision on Highway 3 near Seven Persons on Monday, March 20, 2023.

Members of Redcliff RCMP, Cypress County fire and EMS were called to the scene at around 8 p.m. on Monday night. Seven Persons is a hamlet located about 24 kilometres southwest of Medicine Hat.

Redcliff RCMP Staff Sgt. Michael Courty said initial reports indicated that a pick-up truck driving east on Highway 3 crossed the centre line and collided head-on with a westbound semi truck.

Both occupants of the pick-up truck, a 63-year-old man and a 73-year-old woman from Medicine Hat, were declared deceased at the scene. The driver of the semi truck was not injured.

Police said that the initial investigation determined that there was no adverse weather in the area at the time of the collision.

Highway 3 was closed overnight to allow for the RCMP collision reconstructionist to conduct their investigation and to remove the vehicles and debris from the scene.
