LETHBRIDGE, AB – The general manager of the Lethbridge Hurricanes is taking on a new senior management role within the sport.

Peter Anholt has been announced as the Management Lead for the 2024 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship.

Although Anholt was a member of the Hockey Canada management group for the 2023 Hlinka Gretzky Cup U-18 tournament in 2022, this will be his first time leading the Canadian Men’s National Junior Team.

He has been the G.M. of the Lethbridge Hurricanes for the last nine years and has helped to lead to team to seven consecutive post-season appearances, including back-to-back conference finals in 2017 and 2018.

Anholt was the winner of the WHL Lloyd Saunders Award as the league’s top executive in 2015-16 and 2019-20.

This will be the second straight year that a member of the Hurricanes staff will represent Canada at the World Juniors after head coach Brent Kisio served as an assistant coach in last year’s tournament.

The 2024 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship is scheduled to take place between December 26, 2023, and January 5, 2024, in Gothenburg, Sweden.
