LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge County is set to provide financial assistance to three aspiring post-secondary students.

Applications have opened for the fourth annual Bursary Program that provides scholarships to students living in Lethbridge County.

Previously the program only presented two individuals with $1,000 each, but as the list of qualified applicants continues to grow each year, council made the decision to increase both the number of awards and the amount given to each recipient.

In 2023, Lethbridge County will provide three students with $1,500 each.

Reeve Tory Campbell said, “It’s been encouraging to see the interest in our Bursary Program since Council launched it in 2020. Our hope is that these awards encourage County students to pursue their post-secondary goals, while lightening the financial burden that can come with their studies.”

Applications are open to any student or adult who is a current resident of Lethbridge County and entering their first year of post-secondary studies.

The applicant is required to have attended school within the County’s municipal borders, which includes schools in Lethbridge, Picture Butte, Coaldale, Coalhurst, and Nobleford.

Consideration will be given to applicants based on academic standing and good citizenship demonstrated through community participation.

The deadline to apply is June 1, 2023, and the awards disbursed by August 31, 2023, with proof of enrollment.
