LETHBRIDGE, AB – The City of Lethbridge is informing residents that the deadline to apply for the Community Capital Projects Grant (CCPG) is fast approaching.

Projects stemming from locally registered not-for-profits looking to expand or renovate their spaces may be eligible for funding.

Organizations must have additional sources of funds to complete the project, with one-third of total project costs, to a maximum of $200,000, coming from CCPG and two-thirds from other sources.

The city said the grant structure is designed to be aligned with the Alberta Government’s Community Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP), which can be leveraged for a portion of the matching requirement.

CCPG is funded with $400,000 annually through the City of Lethbridge’s operating budget.

Planning assistance may also be funded through CCPG on a one-half matching basis for professional fees to a maximum of $15,000.

In 2022, the CCPG funded eight projects ranging in cost from $14,654.05 to $107,625.00. That year, the Chinook Child and Youth Advocacy Centre and the Chinook Sexual Assault Centre were two of the CCPG projects that were awarded funding.

Eligible projects can include retrofits for accessibility and energy efficiency, capital equipment, roof replacement, fencing and lighting, playground equipment and safety equipment.

The application deadline for the CCPG program is 4:30 p.m. on April 28, 2023.
