LETHBRIDGE – The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) has charged a woman in connection to a fatal pedestrian collision.

On January 17, 2023, at around 3:00 p.m., police were called to the intersection of 26 Avenue and 28 Street North, where two people had been hit by a car.

EMS was already on scene and a 66-year-old man was declared deceased. A 62-year-old woman was taken to Chinook Regional Hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later transferred to Calgary by STARS Air Ambulance and remains in hospital at this time.

An investigation by LPS determined that the GMC truck was travelling eastbound on 26 Avenue North and turned onto 28 Street North, hitting the pedestrians as they crossed in the crosswalk. The driver immediately stopped and called 911.

Bobbi Raquel Whillans, 33, of Lethbridge, is charged with dangerous driving causing death and dangerous driving causing bodily harm.

She will appear in court on May 25, 2023.
