Police issue 40 tickets during weekend traffic enforcement
LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) removed three impaired drivers from the road over the weekend as part of an ongoing traffic enforcement project.
Throughout the May 5-7, 2023 weekend, 40 tickets were issued.
The LPS added that three Immediate Roadside Sanction (IRS) Fails for impaired driving were issued, and one person was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
Police stated that the goal of the enforcement initiative is to provide safer roads for all users by targeting speeding, excessive vehicle noise, racing, stunting and other illegal activities in areas throughout the city where community members have reported concerns. A similar project was conducted by the LPS in the summer of 2022 and police said it resulted in a decrease of traffic complaints.
