LETHBRIDGE COUNTY, AB – Cole Beck has been named the new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of Lethbridge County. Beck replaces former CAO Ann Mitchell.

He comes to Lethbridge County following a career with Alberta Health Services. Beck has been in the Lethbridge area for the last 15 years, after growing up in Cardston County.

In a news release, Beck stated, “Municipal operations present a unique set of challenges and opportunities, and I am eager to support continued excellence, fostering collaborative relationships, and delivering efficient and effective services.”

Beck added, “I am confident that my background leading major capital infrastructure project teams and multidisciplinary operations at Alberta Health Services, coupled with the invaluable knowledge of the municipal teams, will enable us to further propel Lethbridge County’s success.”

He said, “While the healthcare sector and municipal government operate in distinct contexts, there are valuable parallels in terms of complex project management, stakeholder engagement, and delivering essential services to the community. I am excited to apply my expertise in these areas to support Lethbridge County’s municipal operations and work collaboratively with the talented teams already in place to find synergies and innovative approaches that will contribute to the County’s growth, sustainability, and the well-being of its residents.”

Following Ann Mitchell’s departure, Larry Randle, Director of Community Services, served as Interim CAO. Lethbridge County Reeve, Tory Campbell said, “We’re fortunate to have a great senior leadership team at Lethbridge County, thank you to all those that stepped up during this transition.”

Cole Beck will start in his new position at Lethbridge County on June 12, 2023.
