Milk River Health Centre emergency department temporarily closed

MILK RIVER, AB – Less than three days after re-opening, the emergency department at the Milk River Health is once again temporarily closed.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) said the closure took effect at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, May 29, 2023, and is set to resume 24/7 coverage at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30.

A lack of physician coverage is said to be the reason for the temporary closure.

Anyone experiencing a medical emergency during this time is asked to phone 911. They will be redirected to either Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge or the Raymond Health Centre.

Residents with non-urgent healthcare-related questions can phone Health Link at 811 at any time of the day.
