Lethbridge City Council approves feasibility study on indoor recreation
LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge City Council has approved a feasibility study on bringing more indoor recreation facilities to the city.
The matter was brought up to council on May 30, 2023, to address the high demand for indoor accommodations due to the rise in popularity of indoor sports like pickleball, volleyball and indoor soccer.
Council approved the $50,000 study to explore the feasibility of repurposing the pavilions at Lethbridge & District Exhibition for recreational multipurpose opportunities, instead of tearing them down.
Lethbridge City Councillor Ryan Parker said that the $50,000 study gives the chance for the city to save money in the long run by not paying for demolition, and using the facilities to hold future Capital Improvement Plan events.
