STANDOFF, AB – A southern Alberta woman has been charged by the Blood Tribe Police Service (BTPS).

Police reported that on May 31, 2023, the Drugs Task Force Unit conducted a traffic stop on Highway 2, assisted by the RCMP Southern Alberta Crime Reduction Unit. The BTPS said the stop came after a vehicle was seen leaving an area “known to be involved heavily in the drug subculture”.

A subsequent investigation following the traffic stop led to the seizure of 10 grams of suspected prepackaged fentanyl, and $1,500 in Canadian currency, according to police.

Kristen Jo Tallow, 28, of the Blood Tribe, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl, possession of property obtained by crime, personation, and resisting arrest.

Tallow was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Cardston Provincial Court on June 19, 2023. Police added that the alleged driver of the vehicle was released without charges.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Blood Tribe Police Service at 403-737-3800 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
