Police arrest two following stolen vehicle report in Taber

TABER, AB – The Taber Police Service (TPS) arrested two individuals after responding to a report of an allegedly stolen vehicle driving erratically in the southern Alberta town.

The TPS said that on Friday, June 2, 2023, officers saw the occupants, one adult female and adult male, park the vehicle in a residential neighbourhood.

When police approached the male suspect, he allegedly fought the two officers and a short foot chase occurred. Nearby, two Town of Taber public work employees were able to apprehend the man, at which time, police caught up to the suspect.

An officer sustained minor injuries during the altercation.

Taber Police Chief, Graham Abela, stated in a social media post, “I am thankful for the professionalism of our officers and for the assistance of the two Public Works employees that came to our aid.”

Police reported that charges against both suspects are pending.
