Temporary two-week closure hits Milk River Emergency Department

Jun 12, 2023 | 9:36 AM

MILK RIVER, AB – The Milk River Emergency Department is set to temporarily close, again.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) has reported that the emergency department will halt operations due to a lack of physician coverage.

Starting at 8:00 a.m. on June 12, 2023, the closure will take effect and will last until Friday, at 5:00 p.m. on June 23.

During the temporary closure, nursing staff will remain on-site to provide care for long-term care residents.

Patients experiencing a medical emergency and in need of immediate help are asked to call 911, and EMS will be re-routed from Raymond Health Centre or Chinook Regional Hospital.

AHS reminds Milk River residents they can call Health Link at 811, which is available 24/7 for non-emergency health-related questions.

Individuals requiring non-emergency medical care are also encouraged to call their family physician.
