LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) has charged a 43-year-old man with drug trafficking offences and seized more than $30,000 worth of drugs.

On the evening of Thursday, June 8, 2023, police responded to multiple reports of drug trafficking activity involving a man associated with a vehicle that was parked in the area of 4 Avenue and 12 Street South. Police say they approached the suspect and arrested him without incident as he attempted to dispose of property, reportedly consisting of fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine and close to $1,600 in cash.

A search warrant was obtained and executed on the vehicle, and police say they seized additional quantities of fentanyl, methamphetamine, a machete, three knives and drug paraphernalia.

Larry Healy Jr., 43, of Lethbridge, is charged with:

  • Four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking
  • One count of possession of the proceeds of crime
  • Two counts of failing to comply with bail conditions stemming from previous drug trafficking charges in December 2022.

The latter charges are related to the largest seizure of fentanyl to date in the downtown core.

Healy was remanded into custody, and appeared in court on June 12, 2023.
