LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge College Kodiaks have been announced as the hosts for both the cross-country and women’s volleyball Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) championships for the upcoming 2023-24 season.

On October 28, 2023, 10 cross-country teams will travel to Lethbridge for the championship race at Nicholas Sheran Park. The course at the park is still being finalized for the event, which will include a six kilometre race for the women’s team, and an eight kilometre race for the men’s team.

The last time the Kodiaks hosted the cross-country championships was in 2015, where both teams came away victorious.

Later on in the athletic season, the Kodiaks will host the ACAC women’s volleyball championships at the Val Matteotti Gymnasium from February 21 to 24, 2024. The tournament will see the top four teams from both the North and South divisions of the ACAC facing off for a chance to appear at the national championships, held at Red Deer Polytechnic in March of 2024.

Kodiaks’ Athletics and Recreation Services Director Todd Caughlin shared his excitement for the events.

He said, “We have proven our ability to host championships at the highest level – it’s a total college commitment and we are proud to have the conference give us this chance. To host cross-country for the first time since 2015 and finally women’s volleyball for the first time in LC history, needless to say, we are very excited.”
