Lethbridge declared a Bee City
LETHBRIDGE, AB – The City of Lethbridge has a new title.
As part of International Pollinator Week, officials have announced that Lethbridge has been declared a Bee City by Bee City Canada. Bee City is a program of Pollinator Partnership Canada (P2C), which is a national organization dedicated to the protection and promotion of pollinators and their ecosystems through conservation, education, and research.
City Councilor Jeff Carlson originally put the motion forward on May 2 to ask Administration to apply for the Bee City designation. In a news release, Carlson said, “I applaud the efforts of those residents and staff who helped us to reach this point and for everyone’s passion in helping our pollinators.”
Until June 25, 2023, community members will be able to take part in different educational activities related to pollinators and their habitat.
