Pincher Creek Health Centre Emergency Department to temporarily close

Jun 30, 2023 | 2:58 PM

PINCHER CREEK, AB – Residents of Pincher Creek will need to seek emergency healthcare elsewhere over the Canada Day long weekend.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) has announced a temporary closure of the Pincher Creek Health Centre’s Emergency Department.

The department will close at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2023, and re-open at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, July 3.

AHS said the closure is due to a lack of on-site physician coverage.

Patients requiring emergency care during the closure period are asked to phone 911.

“EMS services are prepared to respond to emergency events and support inter-facility transfers to neighbouring sites,” reads a media release from AHS. “Patients seeking care can access emergency services at the Cardston Health Centre, Crowsnest Pass Health Centre, Fort Macleod Health Centre or Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge.”

Nursing staff will remain on site at the Pincher Creek Health Centre to look after long-term care residents.

Anyone with non-urgent health questions can phone Health Link at 811 at any time.
