LETHBRIDGE, AB – Police in Lethbridge are asking for help in connection with an assault investigation.

The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) is seeking witnesses, or anyone who may have dash cam footage, to come forward. The LPS said that on July 12, 2023, at around 9:43 p.m., officers responded to a report that three people were assaulting a man at the intersection of 13 Street North and 3 Avenue North.

When police arrived on scene, the LPS said they found a 47-year-old man who had sustained blunt force trauma injuries.

The LPS said EMS attended the scene, but the man declined to be taken to the hospital for treatment. Officers canvassed the area but could not locate anyone matching the description of the suspects.

On July 13, at approximately 7:20 a.m., the LPS and EMS responded to the victim’s north Lethbridge home, where police said he was found in medical distress. The man was transported to Chinook Regional Hospital by EMS and was later transferred to Calgary for, according to police, treatment of a significant head injury. The LPS noted on July 17 that the man remains in hospital in serious but stable condition.

The LPS is asking anyone who may have witnessed the alleged assault on July 12, or who was driving in the area of 13 Street North from 3 Avenue North to Highway 3/Crowsnest Trail and may have dash cam footage from between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m., to come forward. Those with information can call the LPS at 403-328-4444 and reference file 23016408.
