Zellers to open pop-up store in Lethbridge

LETHBRIDGE, AB – UPDATE (7:40 a.m. July 18) An official with the Hudson’s Bay Company has confirmed to LNN that the pop-up Zellers in Lethbridge will be inside of The Bay in the Melcor Centre.

Lethbridge will once again be home to a Zellers.

On Tuesday, July 18, 2023, the Hudson’s Bay Company announced the next round of 21 Zellers pop-up locations across five Canadian provinces.

President Sophia Hwang-Judiesch says pop-ups are a key ingredient in their expansion strategy.

“Our customers are very much part of our growth process, and together we will shape the future of Zellers, building a shopping experience that truly connects with communities across Canada.” said Hwang-Judiesch.

Three Zellers are set to open by August 11 in Alberta:

• Lethbridge Melcor Centre (inside The Bay)
• Red Deer Bower Place
• St. Albert Centre

The other stores are also set to be within existing Hudson’s Bay locations.

A release from the company states that the pop-ups showcase “a curated assortment of quality, value and design-led Zellers merchandise,” and a “bite-sized taste of Zellers.”

According to the Lethbridge Historical Society, the former Zellers in Lethbridge opened on Mayor Magrath Drive South in 1968 and later moved to Centre Village Mall, where it would stay in operation until the company’s closure in 2013.
