LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes have locked up their pick from the 2023 CHL Import Draft.

On July 18, 2023, the Hurricanes signed Swedish forward Elias Knoester to a WHL Scholarship & Development Agreement. The Canes took the 5’8 centre with the 42nd pick in the Import Draft on July 5 from the Malmo Redhawks J18 team in the J18 Nationell league.

Knoester had a productive 2022-23 season in Sweden, recording 11 goals and 12 assists for 23 points in 16 games at the J18 level. Knoester also appeared in 42 games at the J20 level, scoring nine goals and adding nine assists in that span.

With his selection in the Import Draft, Knoester became just the third Swede selected by the Hurricanes in their history.

Knoester will be eligible for the 2024 NHL Entry Draft after the 2023-24 WHL season.
