Team Canada Junior Roller Derby announces local athlete as team captain

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Team Canada is heading to France for the Junior Roller Derby World Cup, and a local player has been named as team captain.

Lethbridge’s Jasper “Golden Eagle” Davis was named captain for one of two teams assembled to represent Canada. One team is an all-female team, and the other is an “open” all-gender team, which Davis will captain.

Davis said, “I’m happy to be captain and flattered to be chosen. I’m happy to be captain and flattered to be chosen.”

Seven players on the Team Canada roster are from Lethbridge, as is their head coach Caroline “Meow” Reimer.

Lethbridge players on the roster are:

  • Audrey “Audzilla” May
  • Jesse “Chesie” Leger
  • Kyria “Clawless” Franklin
  • Jasper “Golden Eagle” Davis
  • Mackenzie “Medusa” Heidinger
  • Myra “Shredher” Moore
  • Abigail “Super Fly” Reimer

Reimer said, “Our captains were selected for their derby knowledge, their ability to stay calm in stressful situations, and their rapport with their fellow teammates. We have a good balance of east, west, and central Canada who will be wearing the C.”

The Junior Roller Derby World Cup is running from July 28-30. 2023 in Valence, France.
