Taber police officer wins gold at global competition in Winnipeg

TABER, AB – A member of the Taber Police Service (TPS) was successful at a global competition.

Constable Leighton Motz competed at the World Police and Fire Games Winnipeg 2023 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The event is an Olympic-style competition with over 8,500 athletes representing law enforcement, firefighting and policing agencies from more than 50 countries across the world.

The participants compete in over 60 unique sports.

The Games started July 28 and are on until August 6, 2023.

Constable Motz took part in the Toughest Competitor Alive competition. It consisted of the following components: a five-kilometre run, shot put, a 100-metre dash, 100-metre swim, 20-foot rope, bench press, pull-ups, and an obstacle course.

The TPS Constable won gold in the 30-plus age, heavyweight category.
