LETHBRIDGE, AB – The deadline for an Orange Shirt Day contest has been extended.

The City of Lethbridge and the Reconciliation Lethbridge Advisory Committee (RLAC) are calling on local Indigenous artists to submit their designs.

The contest, which was originally launched at the beginning of July, is a part of Reconciliation Week, and the submitted designs will have a chance to be featured on the City’s 2023 shirts for the annual Orange Shirt Day on September 30, 2023.

The day is also referred to as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

The artwork must be an original design, and be suitable for printing on a t-shirt.

A nominations committee comprised of RLAC and the City’s Indigenous Relations Office will decide the winner of the contest, and the artist will receive a $500 honorarium.

The deadline was initially Monday, July 31, but is now set for Saturday, August 18. More information on the contest and on submissions can be found at the City of Lethbridge website.
