Calgary man facing charges in connection with 25 break-ins across southern Alberta

LETHBRIDGE, AB – A Calgary man has been charged following a string of reported break and enters in Calgary, Lethbridge and several southern Alberta communities.

The RCMP Southern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit (CRU), along with the Calgary Police Service and Lethbridge Police Service, became involved on June 10, 2023, when the suspect allegedly broke into a business in Diamond Valley.

Police have alleged that the suspect proceeded to commit 25 break-ins at businesses in Calgary, Lethbridge, Raymond, Coaldale, Vulcan, Strathmore and Diamond Valley. It is believed he stole more than $15,000 by breaking into automated banking machines.

During a reported break-in at a Calgary business on July 14, police said they arrested the suspect.

David Letourneau-Janveaux, 30, of Calgary is facing 70 charges, including:

  • Break and Enter to Commit Theft
  • Break and Enter to Commit Mischief
  • Mischief Over $5000
  • Theft Over $5000
  • Possession of Break in Instruments
  • Unauthorized Possession in Motor Vehicle
  • Possession of Prohibited Weapon
  • Possession a Firearm Knowing it’s Possession was Unauthorized
  • Unauthorized Transport of a Firearm

Letourneau-Janveaux will appear in court in Calgary on August 16, 2023.
