UPDATE – September 7, 2023 @ 1:25 p.m.

FORT MACLEOD, AB – The Emergency Department (ED) at the Fort Macleod Health Centre will re-open at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 7, 2023.

Physician coverage has been secured, ending the closure that began at 8 a.m. Thursday morning and was anticipated to continue until 8 a.m. tomorrow, September 8.

FORT MACLEOD, AB – The Emergency Department (ED) at the Fort Macleod Health Centre is set to temporarily close.

The ED will be closed temporarily starting at 8 a.m. on Thursday, September 7, 2023. The department will re-open at 8 a.m. on Friday, September 8 to provide 24-hour service.

During the closure, nursing staff will stay on site to provide care for long-term care residents.

Patients are asked to call 911 if they have a medical emergency. EMS calls will be re-routed to Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge.

Those seeking care can access emergency services at the Pincher Creek Health Centre, Cardston Health Centre or Chinook Regional Hospital.

Residents are also reminded to call Health Link at 811, which is available 24/7 for non-emergency health-related questions. Individuals requiring non-emergency medical care are encouraged to call their family physician.
