4-H Canada CEO resigns

OTTAWA, ON – The longtime CEO of 4-H Canada is leaving the organization.

For more than 100 years, 4-H has offered programs to help develop youth across the country.

The organization has over 17,000 members and nearly 7,000 volunteer leaders taking part in more than 45,000 projects.

For over a decade, Shannon Benner has served as the CEO for 4-H Canada. The organization has announced that she will be leaving the position on September 22, 2023, to pursue another opportunity.

Dave Hansen, chair of the 4-H Canada Board of Directors said, “During her time at the helm, Shannon had the foresight to lead the implementation of a range of initiatives that will serve the movement for years to come.”

A complete re-organization was undertaken during Benner’s time with 4-H Canada. This resulted in updated governance, strategy, and programs. Under Benner’s leadership, 4-H Canada transitioned from a federated model to an accreditation model that requires provinces to participate in a process focused on ensuring national standards across the country.

Benner stated in a news release, “I am so proud of all that the 4-H movement has accomplished and know that the movement will continue to grow with the support of the many dedicated staff and volunteers across this country who are all highly invested in 4-H’s continued success.”

More about the organization is available at the 4-H Canada website.
