LETHBRIDGE, AB – Police in Lethbridge have charged a woman in connection with a stabbing.

The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) said that on September 10, 2023, at approximately 5:33 a.m., officers responded to a report of a stabbing at the Lethbridge Shelter along the 800 block of 2 Avenue North.

Police allege a woman stabbed a 33-year-old man multiple times in the head with a screwdriver, then reportedly used the weapon to hit a 72-year-old man.

The LPS said security team members contained the woman to prevent further harm. Upon police arrival, the LPS reported that the suspect refused to comply with the direction of the officers. A conducted energy weapon was deployed. The LPS said officers seized the weapon as well as a hammer in the woman’s possession.

The first victim sustained head injuries and was taken to hospital by EMS for further treatment. The second victim did not sustain any puncture wounds. The LPS said no medical intervention was required.

Stacy Leigh Carlson, 33, of Lethbridge, is charged with two counts each of assault with a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace.

Carlson was remanded in custody following a Judicial Interim Release hearing and is scheduled to be in court on September 11, 2023.
