Red Deer to host 2023 Western Hockey League Cup

RED DEER, AB – The Western Hockey League (WHL), in partnership with the governing hockey bodies of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, announced that the City of Red Deer will be the host for the 2023 WHL Cup.

The tournament is scheduled for October 18 through 22, and will be played at the Peavey Mart Centrium.

The four western Canadian provinces will compete in a round-robin tournament followed by playoffs. The round-robin begins on October 18 and ends on October 20. The gold and bronze medal games will take place on October 22.

The WHL Cup was established in 2009 and takes place every season, except those in which Canada Winter Games are played.

The 2023 tournament marks the 10-year anniversary of the event. Team Alberta has won the championship five times, most recently in 2016. Team British Columbia is the current reigning champion.
