Katrina Michel and Owen Stewart named Kodiaks student-athletes of the week
LETHBRIDGE, AB – The recipients of the latest Lethbridge College Kodiaks athletes of the week honours have been announced.
September 16, 2023 marked the start of the season for both the men’s and women’s cross-country teams, and two new additions to the club emerged as strong competitors at the event.
First-year Practical Nursing student-athlete Katrina Michel made her Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) debut and secured the highest placement for the women’s team. Michel finished fourth overall with a time of 26:21. Her showing helped the Kodiaks place third by the end of race day. This marked a two-spot improvement from last year’s results.
Owen Stewart was named the other athlete of the week. The second-year General Studies student-athlete from Lethbridge also competed in his first ACAC cross-country event over the weekend. He earned the fourth position individually in the ACAC with a time of 28:38. This was the highest rank among Kodiaks men’s team runners. The team finished in second overall.
