LETHBRIDGE, AB – Two University of Lethbridge (U of L) Pronghorns coaches are coming off some major success on the international stage.

Pronghorns assistant women’s basketball coaches Paige Crozon and Kacie Bosch led Team Canada to a championship at the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series Final in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia on September 17, 2023.

The duo, along with twin sisters Katherine and Michelle Plouffe, defeated France 16-15 in the championship game to claim the title.

Bosch said, “It’s a long journey to get to the women’s series finals, there’s so many talented teams. So to be one of the eight top teams selected to go is a super big accomplishment in itself.”

She added, “It’s cool going into the women’s series final just because you know it’s the final tournament, and only the best teams get to go, so the competition is stepped up tenfold.”

The three on three basketball differs significantly from the standard game. The games are ten minutes, and played in a half court with one net instead of two.

Crozon said there is also a difference in preparation for the sport, and the team has had to make the training work since they are spread across the province.

She explained, “We’re spread all over Alberta for this upcoming year, so we don’t have as many opportunities to train with one another, so we just try to make it really worthwhile when we are.”

The team will next play in the 3×3 Americup in Puerto Rico in December 2023. If Canada emerges victorious in the tournament, they will qualify for the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
