Hurricanes blank Warriors 4-0 at home

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes improved to a 4-1-0 record to start the season with a 4-0 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors on Friday, October 6, 2023.

The Hurricanes jumped out to a 1-0 lead early, with Tyson Zimmer’s third goal of the season at the 3:49 mark of the first period, assisted by Trae Wilke and Carter Dereniwsky.

Chase Pauls added another tally later in the period from Logan Wormald and Miguel Marques to make it 2-0.

After a scoreless second period where the Hurricanes outshot the Warriors 15-5, Logan Wormald scored his second goal of the season just over four minutes into the third, assisted by Brayden Edwards.

Edwards then scored his own goal, assisted by Marques and Wormald to finish the game at a 4-0 score.

Tensions flared in the closing two minutes of the game, with Hurricanes captain Joe Arntsen and Warriors forward Max Finley each receiving a 10-minute misconduct.

In addition, Edwards was given a double minor for roughing, while Matthew Gallant of the Warriors served a two minute roughing minor.

Harrison Meneghin continued his string play in the 2023-24 season, stopping all 26 shots he faced in the game. He now owns a sparkling 1.47 goals against average and a .953 save percentage in four games, all of them wins.

The Hurricanes continue their busy weekend schedule on Saturday, October 7 with a game in Red Deer against the Rebels. They will then travel up to Edmonton to face off against the Oil Kings on Monday, October 9.
