Hurricanes add forward Cairns, waive Astashevich

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes have added 2006-born forward Cole Cairns to their roster.
Cairns was originally selected in the fourth round in the 2021 Western Hockey League (WHL) Prospects Draft by the Portland Winterhawks. He spent last season with the RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg U18 team, scoring five goals and adding 11 assists in 19 games.
In a corresponding move, the Hurricanes waived 2004-born import forward Anton Astashevich. Astashevich spent parts of the last two seasons with Lethbridge, appearing in 67 games and putting up 23 points.
The Hurricanes take on the Brandon Wheat Kings on Wednesday, October 11 at the ENMAX Centre. Puck drop is at 7:00 p.m.
