LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge & District Exhibition lottery program has donated $13,065.22 to YWCA Lethbridge & District.

Jill Grindle of Calgary purchased the winning ticket during Whoop Up Days and won the $42,332.50 jackpot.

With each ticket purchased, community members had the opportunity to win, while also giving back to the community with proceeds benefiting both YWCA Lethbridge & District, and Lethbridge & District Exhibition to support community initiatives.

Mike Warkentin, CEO of Lethbridge & District Exhibition said, “Getting YWCA Lethbridge & District involved as our charitable partner really gave this ear’s lotteries campaign a boost.”

He continued, “Their volunteers worked tirelessly throughout Whoop-Up Days to increase the pot and its impact on the community. We’re thankful to everyone who bought a ticket for supporting such a great cause and we’re thrilled to present the YWCA with these proceeds to support the great work they do.”

The 2023 campaign generated more than double the charitable proceeds from 2022, which was the program’s inaugural year.

Jill Young, YWCA Lethbridge & District CEO said, “YWCA Lethbridge & District was so pleased to be able to partner with Lethbridge & District Exhibition to be the charitable recipient from this year’s 50/50 Lottery.”

She continued, “It was amazing to see the community support for our organization, from volunteering or purchasing tickets; this was a great initiative to bring awareness to the services we offer. All proceeds from this donation will go directly to our programs and client services.

Details about the 2024 Lethbridge 7 District Exhibition Lotteries program will be announced in the coming months.
