WILLIAM “JACK” JOHN ELLIOTT, of Magrath, passed away peacefully at St. Michael’s Health Centre in his room, on Monday, October 16, 2023 at the age of 80 years. He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife Sylvia Iris (nee Evasiw) in 2016, and his only brother, Robert Elliott (2020). Jack and Sylvia were hunting and fishing enthusiasts; their passion for the outdoors was matched by their love of their hunting dogs.
Jack was born in 1943 in Viking, AB to Bill and Edith Elliott. Jack was an archaeologist and ethnohistorian with interests in 19th century Métis buffalo hunters on the northern plains, and worked 15 yrs. as a curator and archivist in a city museum in southern Alberta. He is survived by his nephews Martin & Matthew (Roseanne) Elliott, nieces Sharla (Brady) Vander Woude & Tobi Elliott, and extended family.
At Jack’s request, no formal funeral will be held.
