LETHBRIDGE, AB – This holiday season, Lethbridge County Council is asking residents to lend a helping hand in stocking the shelves at local food banks.

The Frozen Food Bank Fundraiser was launched on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 by Reeve Tory Campbell. The initiative aims to support the Coaldale Food Bank and the North County Interfaith Outreach Society in Picture Butte.

The fundraiser will be ongoing from November 1 to 30. Citizens are asked to make a monetary or non-perishable food item donation to the cause. Those who donate will receive a chance to do something a little different.

Donors will be able to enter a draw to dunk Campbell in a dunk tank this winter. Winning entries for the dunk tank will be drawn on December 1.

Campbell stated, “With the holidays approaching, I want to bring awareness to the need that exists within our communities and the essential services local food banks provide.”

He added, ““I ask that anyone who is able to donate, to please consider contributing to a very worthy cause, to hopefully bring some relief to families that may be going through financial challenges right now.”

Donations can be made at the Coaldale or Picture Butte food banks, or at the Lethbridge County administration office in downtown Lethbridge.

Campbell remarked, “I hope that winning the chance to dunk me into a freezing tub of water will be an added incentive to encourage the community to get out and donate.”

In 2020, Reeve Campbell and former councillor Steve Campbell shaved their heads after passing their goal of $5,000 in food bank donations during a holiday season fundraiser.
