Details provided on ceremonies, service level changes for Remembrance Day in Lethbridge

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Saturday, November 11, 2023 marks Remembrance Day.

In Lethbridge, there will be two Remembrance Day ceremonies.

  • The 2023 Remembrance Day Parade and Service will be hosted by the General Stewart Branch #4 of the Royal Canadian Legion. It will take place on Saturday at the Lethbridge & District Exhibition Agri-food Hub and Trade Centre. Doors will open to the public at 9 a.m., with seating completed by 10:30 a.m. for a 10:45 a.m. ceremony start.
  • A second ceremony is scheduled to start at 10:45 a.m. at the Cenotaph on Veterans Avenue (4 Avenue South) in front of the Yates Memorial Centre. This ceremony is set to feature a fly-by from a Harvard aircraft.

SERVICE LEVEL CHANGES

In addition to the ceremonies, the City of Lethbridge is advising residents of some service level changes for the weekend and early next week.

There will be modifications to services on both Saturday and on Monday, November 13.

LETHBRIDGE 311

The Lethbridge 311 office will be closed on Monday, with customer service specialists returning at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, November 14. The 24/7 self-service site is available at 311.lethbridge.ca, if residents have any questions. Urgent issues can be addressed by calling the 24-hour trouble line at 311.

CITY HALL

Lethbridge City Hall will be closed to the public on Monday and will reopen at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.

WASTE AND RECYCLING SERVICES

The Waste and Recycling Centre will be closed on Saturday. It will, however, be open on Monday.

The City of Lethbridge noted that Yard Waste sites will be open both Saturday and Monday.

COMMUNITY ANIMAL SERVICES

Community Animal Services will be closed on Saturday and open on Monday. Individuals are asked to contact the shelter at 403-320-4099 ahead of time and arrange a pick-up of their pet, to ensure lost pets are returned home.

TRANSIT SERVICES

Lethbridge Transit will operate on the holiday schedule on Saturday. Regular service will resume on Monday. Scheduling details are available at the Lethbridge Transit website.

ACCESS-A-RIDE

On Saturday, the ACCESS-A-Ride booking and customer service will be closed, but service hours will remain unchanged. More on ACCESS-A-Ride is at the City of Lethbridge website.

GALT MUSEUM & ARCHIVES/FORT WHOOP-UP

From 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, the Galt Museum will be open. It will be closed on Monday. Officials noted that Fort Whoop-Up is closed for the season.

HELEN SCHULER NATURE CENTRE

The Helen Schuler Nature Centre will be closed on Saturday and Monday.

LIBRARY SERVICES, POOLS AND ARENAS

All branches of the Lethbridge Public Library will be closed on Saturday and open on Monday.

Pool and arena scheduling is available through the City of Lethbridge website.
