LETHBRIDGE, AB – The first of two intakes for the Re-Imagine Downtown Activation Grant is open for applications in Lethbridge.

The program aims to support businesses, entrepreneurs, organizations and community-minded individuals in implementing events and programs that activate the city’s downtown core. Officials said the grant program has a focus on activating vacant and underutilized private and public spaces.

The total funding for 2024 is $120,000, with up to $80,000 being dished out in the first intake. The second intake will happen in the spring.

The City of Lethbridge noted that for 2024, there will be a particular focus on activating Galt Gardens Park. Events held in that space are eligible for up to $15,000 per initiative. Activities outside of Galt Gardens will be eligible for up to $10,000 per initiative.

BOUNDARY EXPANSION

New for 2024 is an expansion of the boundaries of eligible districts. Boundaries have been expanded to include the Warehouse District and 13 Street North.

Officials added that events held outside of the June to September peak season will also be a priority for the 2024 season.

Applications for the first intake are open until December 15, 2023. Recipients will be named in January.

An application form is available at the City of Lethbridge website.
