LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Historical Society (LHS) has announced the launch of its newest book, titled Upon Further Reflection: Lethbridge Then and Now.

The book is an updated version of Reflections: Lethbridge Then and Now, which was produced by Warren Hall and Barb Goodman in 1980.

The updated and revised captions for the photo-book were done by Belinda Crowson, with the photos taken by Mike Jensen and the book designed by Bobbie Fox.

The book features images of sites in Lethbridge, and how they’ve changed over time.

For example, the current site of CASA was previously an opera house, circa 1890. It was also the site of the Hull Block, which eventually burnt down. After that the Safeway was built, which later became an IGA, and after that was torn down, CASA was built on the site.

Belinda Crowson, President of LHS, said the book demonstrates, “A sense of how things have changed, but also, an idea of the work that needs to be done to preserve some of the sights. What we have lost, but also, the incredible work that has been done to maintain some of these buildings and locations.”
