Fort Macleod emergency department temporarily closed for part of Dec. 4

Dec 4, 2023 | 9:09 AM

FORT MACLEOD, AB – Residents of Fort Macleod are being advised of a temporary closure of the Health Centre’s Emergency Department.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) said it started at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, December 4, 2023, and is set to reopen at 7:15 p.m. the same day.

They add that the closure is due to a lack of nursing staff coverage.

However, nurses will remain on-site to look after long-term care residents during the closure.

Anyone who needs emergency medical care during the nearly-12-hour period is asked to phone 911. EMS calls will be redirected to Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge (49 kilometres away).

Emergency medical services can also be accessed at the Pincher Creek or Cardston Health Centres.

People who have non-urgent health-related questions can phone Health Link at 811 at any time.
