LETHBRIDGE, AB – A Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) holiday tradition is set to return to southern Alberta.

The CPKC Holiday Train (formerly known as the CP Holiday Train) tours North America to raise awareness, funds and collect donations for local food banks. In addition to the brightly-coloured train cars, the tour features musical performances from different artists. Performers for 2023 include Kiesza, Dallas Smith, Tyler Shaw, Virginia to Vegas, Grande Prairie’s Tenille Townes, and Medicine Hat’s MacKenzie Porter, among others.

This year, there are two trains, one of which will tour Canada while the other has been travelling through the United States.

Its first stop in the region will be in Calgary on Saturday, December 9 from 6:00-6:45 p.m. at the Anderson C-Train Station south parking lot.

Following stops in Okotoks and Blackie on Monday, December 11, the train will stop in Vulcan a 3:15 p.m. at the CPKC railway crossing at 1 Ave and 2 Street.

It will then come to Lethbridge a 7:00 p.m. on the same day, stopping at 2 Ave North and 12 Street North behind Save-On Foods.

The Holiday Train will make stops in Fort Macleod, Pincher Creek and Coleman on Tuesday, December 12.

The full Canadian train schedule is available online.

Meanwhile, the U.S. train has stops scheduled in southern Alberta as well, including in Medicine Hat on December 19. This stop will have a performance by Dallas Smith and MacKenzie Porter. The schedule for the U.S. train is also available online.

Since its debut in 1999, the CPKC Holiday Train has raised over $22.5 million and collected more than 5-million pounds of food for food banks across North America.

CPKC is headquartered in Calgary. The company resulted from a merger in April 2023 between Canadian Pacific Railway (CP) and Kansas City Southern (KCS).
