Alberta RCMP issues over 2,400 tickets over holiday season

LETHBRIDGE, AB – RCMP in Alberta issued over 2,400 tickets from December 24, 2023 until New Years Day.

In that timeframe, RCMP was holding its #DecemberToRemember campaign, aimed at upholding traffic safety.

Overall, 1,050 drivers were ticketed for speeding, and 15 were ticketed for excessive speeding. One motorist was caught travelling 204 km/h in a 110 km/h zone.

In addition, police caught 40 drivers for distracted driving, and 1,354 motorists received tickets for traffic safety violations including careless driving, driving with a prohibited or suspended license, moving offences, and others.

In total, RCMP issued 2,459 traffic tickets across the province, and removed 189 impaired drivers from the roads.
